Andre Petterson’s pieces are staccato moments in time, captured through the process the artist has developed involving a myriad of techniques. Often building an installation or sculptural form, Petterson then creates photographs which are combined with painting to achieve his unique compositions. Recent explorations have included the physicality of the material cast-offs that result from the industry of our societies, and the increasingly evident negative impacts of climate change. Interested in light, contrast, motion, and kineticsm, Petterson’s work is an ever-evolving reflection of our world.
Petterson’s work has been shown across North America, including Toronto Art Fair, Toronto, ON, SAM Gallery, Seattle, WA, and has worked with Foster/White Gallery since 2007. He has received various awards for his work in film and has been featured in dozens of exhibition catalogs and publications. His work is part of many significant collections including Canada Council Art Bank, Ottawa, ON, Pan Pacific Hotels, Seattle, WA, Vancouver General Hospital, Vancouver, BC, and Air Canada, Montreal, QC.
