Foster/White presents Topographies of Fragility, Ingrid Weyland's first solo exhibition with the gallery. In this series, Weyland explores the fragile relationship between humanity and the natural world through physically manipulated photographic landscapes. Drawn to remote environments, Weyland takes photographs of landscapes experienced throughout her travels. In her work, she conveys the emotional resonance of encountering these vast, timeless spaces.

In the studio, prints are folded, twisted, and crumpled by hand, transforming the image's surface into something entirely altered. What began as discarding unsuccessful prints gradually evolved into a reflection on the ways humans shape, use, and leave traces upon the environment itself. The manipulated photographs establish a direct relationship between material and meaning, evoking the marks human activity leaves on the landscape. Through this series, Weyland invites viewers to consider not only ecological fragility, but also the emotional spaces that still exist within nature.

Ingrid Weyland was inspired to study graphic design given her exposure to architecture and sculpture, as well as her passion for manipulating form and composition. Following her studies at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), she set up her own practice, BW Design. Photography and image creation captured her imagination, and by 2011 she dedicated herself to perfecting her craft through workshops with Ana Sánchez Zinny, Angela Copello, Fabiana Barreda, Julieta Escardó, Juan Brath, Proyecto Imaginario, and Verónica Fieiras, among others. Her practice evolved from portraiture to an immersive exploration of pristine landscapes across several continents.
