Tony Angell's Artwork Added to King County Public Art Collection

The Vigil, 1/1, hand-colored lithograph, 30 x 22.5 inches
Tony Angell's lithograph, The Vigil, 1/1, was recently acquired by 4Culture to be part of the King County Public Art Collection through Here and Now. Angell's lithograph, along with 164 other works of art from artists living and working in King County, were selected by panelists Katie Kurtz, Esther Luttikhuizen, and Christian Waguespack.
On The Vigil, 1/1, Angell states, I cannot imagine the goshawk separate from the mythic setting of an ancient forest. The species remains distant and mysterious despite many books sharing authors’ personal experiences with the bird, or hawking manuals with procedures for training the species. They are a reminder to calm my arrogant ways and question assumptions that allow me to think I know all the answers and can hold dominance over all things.
Selections from Here and Now will be on view at Gallery 4Culture from September 3 – October 16, 2026.
