Will Robinson has the ability to convey through the elegance of his large stone sculptures that their creation is effortless. His sculptures emphasize the contrast between cut and polished aspects of the stones, highlighting the natural properties in each. Often looking to nature and the elements within it for inspiration, Robinson's sculptures capture a myriad of subtleties that must be continuously explored.
This twisting basalt shape was pulled out of a large basalt column, allowing for the use of basalt’s cool weathered textures. The undulating shape bends and reaches, conveying a sense of struggle. I love its movement, and the textures seek to draw in the viewer for a closer experience. - Will Robinson
