Ornithographies #151, Common Starlings, Ebro Delta, Catalonia, 2018
This highly abstract image captures one of my favorite types of flight: starlings fleeing from a falcon attack. Unlike other images, here the individual birds are barely distinguishable due to the distance and the sheer number of individuals. Their forms dissolve into a collective drawing that resembles charcoal.
As they contract and expand in their flight formations, strange and evocative shapes emerge in the air—like the peculiar one we see here. - Xavi Bou
