Harvest, 1/1
When the cones of the ponderosa pines are bursting with seeds, Clark’s nutcrackers come to harvest them. Stout of beak and agile over the branches, they pound and probe for a meal. What they don’t consume, they cache in the ground, creating hidden stores they can return to throughout the winter months. Seeds which are not retrieved can eventually germinate, becoming a natural process of reforestation of these trees. — Tony Angell
