"Tom Robbins. LaConner, Washington, 1977. Tom kept a model of a red Volkswagen in his fridge because he said 'it looks neat. Besides it has an air-cooled engine and you never have to worry about them freezing up. I'd never put a Chevy in there.' He went in the other room and came back with that jacket on. 'I don't like to talk about my war experiences.'"
