ALLISON COLLINS | PATCHWORK DREAMSCAPE

Warm Dreamscape, oil on canvas, 40 x 60 inches
Foster/White presents Patchwork Dreamscape, a collection of new works by Allison Collins.

Borderlands, oil on canvas, 24 x 30 inches
I like to daydream in my studio, remembering places I have been. It is a peaceful solitary place.
These new paintings are a combination of patchwork and dreamscapes.
The window/patches are crafted with rainbow squares of color, shards of lines, and patterns. They create a patchwork of visual paths to follow and unusual abstractions to find. In one painting there is a brushstroke of red with a green tree. In another a vivid square of bright pink, in another a small shard of drips of ultramarine blue.
The dreamscape landlines are the counterpoint to the patchwork. Bright colored windows contrast with the soft colors of distant lands. The movement is scattered or smooth, rhythmic. In my studio I can find a balance between painting and dreaming. - Allison Collins
