EVA ISAKSEN | FAR NORTH
Far North, collage on canvas, 48 x 48 inches.
Known for her distinct and enigmatic visual language, here Eva Isaksen draws inspiration from, and pays homage to, the unique landscape of her homeland. Collaged layers bring texture to the canvas while paint provides pattern and color in abstract compositions which also reference elements of sky, land, and water.
Awaits, collage on canvas, 30 x 24 inches.
The title for this show refers to inspiration based on the Arctic landscape. Every year I spend time in my hometown north of the Arctic Circle in Norway, often during the winter months when the days are very short. The winter light is clear and unique, peaceful, beautiful. At night sometimes the northern lights are present. Space, colors, and shapes are based on memories from the north, but what I am always seeking are ways of abstracting my work no matter where the ideas and inspirations has its roots. - Eva Isaksen
