"Philip Roth. Weequahic, NJ, 1969. 'Portnoy's Complaint' had just come out and we went to tour his hometown. He said, the school was over there, and here’s where we got snacks and stuff, and that’s the billboard I hid behind. I said, why would you hide behind a billboard? He said, so I wouldn’t get hit by the rocks. I said, somebody’s throwing rocks at you? Who’s throwing rocks? He says, you. The goyim. I said, why would I throw a rock at you? “Because I’m a Jew. That’s what you do.” I mean, I grew up on the West Coast, and I wasn’t even aware of ethnic prejudice, really." - Bob Peterson
