Will Robinson has the ability to convey through the elegance of his large stone sculptures that their creation is effortless. His sculptures emphasize the contrast between cut and polished aspects of the stones, highlighting the natural properties in each. Often looking to nature and the elements within it for inspiration, Robinson's sculptures capture a myriad of subtleties that must be continuously explored.
This stone is full of inclusions, and its shapes within invoke deep sea images in my mind. The shapes and textures I made accentuate and reveal the stone’s character, while the remaining natural skin elements of the boulder provide weathered craggy contrast. Bench shapes are cool in that they invite and allow the stone to be touched, and the viewer gets to interact with the art. - Will Robinson
