Point San Luis on California’s central coast. I’m obsessed with blue and here I go all in with the blue of the sea and sky. Once again, the aquatic theme drives this work. – Chase Langford

The unusually tall format of Point San Luis gives the composition a sense of continuous movement. Bands of pale blue, turquoise, gray, white, and muted green drift across the surface, interrupted by concentrated passages of deep blue and black. These darker forms act almost like exposed rock formations within a lighter field, anchoring the composition while creating a visual journey from top to bottom. Fine lines of ochre, rust, and green provide unexpected warmth within the predominantly cool palette.
Forms resemble coastlines, topographic boundaries, marine charts, and aerial views without resolving into any single geographic representation. Point San Luis, on California’s Central Coast, becomes less a depicted place than a source of visual information—its headlands, coves, ocean currents, and stratified terrain distilled into abstraction.
The result is a landscape experienced simultaneously from above, within, and across time: a lyrical interpretation of place in which geography becomes movement, memory, and paint.
