Into Morning Light
Nicole Katsuras' oil on canvas abstractions are characterized by her distinct gestural mark-making, bold colors and impasto surfaces. Radiant thin and thick oil paints are pushed, pulled, and extruded on canvas to compose lively, elegant, and playful abstracted scenes. There is no single narrative that underpins her work—the gestural nature of Abstract Expressionism, Ukiyo-e, as well as CoBrA and Impressionism have all influenced her painting.
