Swaying in the Current
Will Robinson has the ability to convey through the elegance of his large stone sculptures that their creation is effortless. His sculptures emphasize the contrast between cut and polished aspects of the stones, highlighting the natural properties in each. Often looking to nature and the elements within it for inspiration, Robinson's sculptures capture a myriad of subtleties that must be continuously explored.
On a recent trip, I spent some time snorkeling over some beautiful rocks and reefs. The coral and other rock-anchored lifeforms are so incredible in their abundance and incredible diversity, not to mention the fish! This sculpture has a shape inspired by those undersea forms, with textures both inviting and foreboding, much like so many sea creatures. — Will Robinson
