At The Estuary (Black Merlin)
Over the years I produce a number of black and white lithographs that were drawn directly on a stone or on a plate and Kent Lovelace of Stone Press printed them. Some were contributed for fund raising including The Nature Conservancy and the organizations like People for Puget Sound and the Nisqually Delta Association that existed at that time. They depicted avian subjects that are often dramatically present and important within the ecosystems of the Pacific Northwest.
Recently I have colored the few remaining lithos I have and discovered that another level of vitality emerges once the plumages and surroundings are highlighted. To some significant degree another level of beauty of the subject is discovered that compliments its compelling design and setting. - Tony Angell
